Our listings are regularly updated.
2. Is it better for me to apply online or by mail?
Your may feel free to apply either online or in writing. Both written and online applications will receive the same careful attention in our selection process.
3. May I apply for more than one job position at the same time?
If your resume qualifies you for several positions, you should feel free to attach a description of your preferred areas of interest along with your application.
4. What will happen to my application, and when should I expect to hear back from you?
As soon as we receive your application, we will send you a confirmation of receipt. From that moment on, we strive to minimize the time it takes to process your application. Since your application needs to be carefully evaluated by several persons in more than one department, it may still take some time before we are able to give you a definite response.
5. May I send a general application for positions opening up in the future?
As long as there are no positions currently advertised for which you would be well matched, you may feel free to submit a general application.
6. What does the selection process look like?
Selection of personnel is a team process involving AIDA as a whole in consultation with the relevant departments. Once your application has persuaded us to move further, the next round gives you the opportunity to demonstrate to us that you fully meet the requirements for the advertised position. We divide the selection process into screening stages (Assessment Center) and interviews.
7. Is training provided on board?
AIDA is the first company to offer a mechatronics engineer program with a nautical focus. Additional information can be founded here.
8. Do you also offer internships on board?
Yes, as a nautical officer intern you can complete an internship on board AIDA’s ships in preparation for your university degree program. The internship enables you to acquire practical and theoretical knowledge for subsequent studies at the European Cruise Academy. The internship is recognized by the Academy as a pre-studies internship. No additional internships are currently offered on board.
9. What opportunities does AIDA offer for continuing education?
We offer our staff and management attractive options for continuing their development and advancing their careers. Through personalized career counseling and a Management Development program, AIDA promotes opportunities for especially talented employees to develop management careers both on board and on land.
10. I am insured during my time on board?
Yes, you have medical coverage. As an onboard employee we’re required to deduct social-insurance and tax contributions from your paycheck, just like employees on land.
11. How many hours would I work each week?
A 7-day work week is standard. You’ll receive notification of working hours and duty rosters from your superior on board. Working hours are organized to ensure that optimal service is offered to our guests.
12. Can I choose the ship or route on which I will work?
You be assigned to a ship or route based on vacancies prior to your first contract. In follow-up contracts we make an attempt to coordinate fleet-wide deployment scheduling in order to allow for our employees wishes.
13. What languages are spoken on board?
The language on board for dealing with guests is German. Good English skills are also necessary for communicating with international colleagues on board and with external partners around the globe.
14. What leisure activities are offered on board?
Crew members have numerous options for spending their free time. Depending on the ship, the crew can take advantage of a crew sun deck, crew sauna, fitness studio, and rec room. Depending on the ship’s program, you can also watch TV and movies in German and/or English.
15. What is the food like on board?
All meals are taken by crew members in the officer or crew mess. The meal plans are optimized for healthy nutrition and bear the DGE (German Association for Nutrition) logo for certified food quality.

Currently, AIDA offers a dual major program leading to a “Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration” with a core concentration in Finance and Controlling, in collaboration with the Hamburg School of Business Administration.
8. Can I arrange to do a student internship at AIDA?
At AIDA you have the opportunity to put newly acquired learning in your field to its first practical test in real-world work experience. Whether in Marketing & Sales, Controlling & Finance, Operations, or Corporate Development, interesting projects are waiting—one or another is certain to challenge you. Current internship opportunities are listed on our job exchange.
9. Do you also offer Trainee programs?
As a general rule, as soon as you begin working at AIDA, you will receive on-the-job training through an orientation and integration program for new employees.
10. Could I write my final academic paper at AIDA?
Have you completed your course work for graduation, and are you now seeking a suitable practice partner for your final academic writing project? We give dedicated and motivated students an opportunity to complete their final academic paper about practice-related subjects with us. Whether planning to write a diploma paper, Bachelor’s thesis or Master’s thesis, students should already have experienced immersion in an internship at our company or have completed a specialization in this specific subject area.
11. What opportunities does AIDA offer for continuing education?

12. How does AIDA promote a more harmonious balance between work and family?
In cooperation with the kindergarten “Kinderwelt” in Rostock, AIDA offers an attractive option for day care.
AIDA employees may enroll their children in day care or kindergarten without any waiting period. In addition, mothers and fathers may also simplify their weekday schedules by means of flexible work hours.
For after-school day care we also have launched a special arrangement with the child care service “Engelchen und Bengelchen,” which is available as needed for all employees.
