AIDA Cruises and Costa provide emergency aid for the victims of the typhoon in the Philippines

Rostock, 18. November 2013

All employees of the Rostock cruise line AIDA Cruises were deeply saddened as they followed the news of the devastating destruction of the typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. Around 800 colleagues on board the AIDA fleet come from the most severely affected regions.

“Our thoughts and deepest sympathy are with all victims, especially our colleagues from the Philippines, their families and their friends. We all share their worry and their suffering. As a Group, we will provide 100,000 USD in emergency aid,” says Michael Ungerer, President of AIDA Cruises, who addressed all employees in a personal letter.

Despite difficult conditions in the region, AIDA Cruises has been able to contact colleagues in the Philippines. They will strive to contact relatives and crew members currently vacationing in the Philippines, and to gather information.

In addition, AIDA Cruises will be holding donation activities on board all AIDA ships to benefit SOS children’s villages in the Philippines.
